MNEMOSYNE BY CHARLA BARNISH
about this exhibition
Mnemosyne
(neh-mow-zeen)
Noun
: the Greek Goddess of individual and collective memory.
My work ventures into the complex relationship between memory and time, while seeking to understand how grief can reshape one’s memories and influence feelings about the past.
I deliberately work with snapshots of my childhood to express the sentimentality and often hazy nature of my memories. By manipulating personal photographs, my work becomes a visual diary of the enduring influence of loss and how it evolves in the course of life.
