Forging A View of a Landscape

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2021

ABOUT THE LECTURE

This talk will be about the process of A View of a Landscape – the exhibition presented at The Whitney Museum of American Art from December 2018 – March 2019. We will cover the conception of the idea from when the artist attended graduate school in 2012 to the early development stages of the chamber in Milan, to the rehearsals for the performances within the exhibition. This will be a comprehensive conversation about the inner workings of this exhibition, how it came about, and what was involved to create the experience of the exhibition from seeing the motor running in silence to meditating to its sound in the listening room next door. Photography, sculpture, sound, installation, and performance span (thus far) eight years of work and development, presented with the intent to render legible the various societal, cultural, and historical forces at play in the artist studio. Learn more about the exhibition here.
